Educated to heal

"For treating my patients and helping them get out of pain and back to the activities they love, my education has been very important. At school, I learned valuable techniques and how to use the latest equipment. But since my school days, I have found that listening to my patients is an education, too. That's why I always take the necessary time to understand what they are going through."

Doctor of Chiropractic: Cum laude, Palmer College of Chiropractic, Davenport, IA Bachelor of Science: Eastern Kentucky University, Richmond, KY

Continuous training for advanced care

"I earned my chiropractic degree in 1989. You can imagine how far the field has come in all that time. That's why continuing education is so important. I believe in giving my patients the best that chiropractic has to offer, which is virtually impossible to do without continuing education. One of the reasons we receive referrals from attorneys, patients, and surgeons each year is that they have learned to rely on our expertise to help speed the recovery of their clients."

Certificate of Proficiency: Spinal & Skeletal Radiology
Continuing Education: Musculoskeletal System, Spine

Working with his colleagues

"My professional associations are another way to stay on top of developments in chiropractic. The exchange of ideas work both ways; not only do I get the best of what chiropractors around the country have to offer, but I also have the opportunity to contribute something to the progress of a patient I will never meet. That gives me great satisfaction."

Member: American Chiropractic Association (ACA), Kentucky Chiropractic Association, International Chiropractic Association, ACA Council on Diagnostic Imaging

The sporting life helps patients

"One of the most exciting times of my life was my involvement in college athletics. The experience taught me the meaning of discipline, effort and reaching beyond what I thought was my limit. I could not have known at the time that all of these qualities would help me treat my patients' years later."
First Team All-State Baseball; Honorable Mention All-State Football; Third Team Division I College Baseball All-American; First Team All-South Region; Male Athlete of the Year, 1986, Eastern Kentucky University; Northern OVC Division Player of the Year, 1986; Career Record Holder, Eastern Kentucky University and OVC; College uniform retired at Eastern Kentucky University, 1991

Advanced Education

"When I decided to become a chiropractor my goal was to be able to help whoever came through my door. I took a variety additional courses learning diverse techniques so that I could adapt to all different types of patients. I earned an intermediate activator certification, which is a technique that involves reflexology principals using a special instrument. It works as a great alternative for infants and newer patients who are not comfortable with manual adjustments. I studied a non-invasive technique called "Webster's technique" that is used to change the position of breech babies with great success. I also do a variety of taping, stretching, and soft tissue methods for acute and athletic injuries."

Helping Others

"I have always felt a strong desire to help others and build a stronger community. When I was finishing up my bachelor degree in exercise sciences, I worked in a kinesiology clinic teaching children with disabilities motor skills, such as walking and putting together puzzles. After I graduated I moved across the country with the domestic peace corps (Americorps) to teach English, reading, and citizenship to men, women, and children who had immigrated to our country in hopes of a better life. When I became an intern at Palmer, I immediately became very involved in the outreach services offered through the school around the area. For 9 months of my internship, I would spend a few extra hours each week after finishing my shift at the clinic to travel around with other interns to places such as Salvation Army to give free care to homeless veterans and recovering addicts. There is no better feeling than giving back to the community."

Kentucky Life

"I fell in love with Kentucky after my first visit. I am still learning a lot about the area (mostly about horses and basketball!), but my favorite thing about living here so far is the amazing hiking trails. On the weekends, I enjoy spending time with my German Shepherd, running, exploring the Bluegrass state, and shooting pool with my boyfriend on an APA league."
